The Art of Barbering Barber Academy

Admission to The Art of Barbering Barber Academy is open to anyone having a high school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.) certificate. If an applicant is under the age of 18, signed parental permission is required. Each prospective student will complete an application form provided by The Art of Barbering Barber Academy and return it to the school. Applications should be submitted three to four weeks in advance of desired starting date to assure a reservation in the class of your choice. A personal interview with our admissions officer along with a tour of the school is also a part of the enrollment process.

 PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The Art of Barbering Barber Academy is dedicated to excellence in the professional field of barbering. As a learning facility, we are dedicated to promoting mastery of basic skills, and encourage development of a broad background of knowledge in a variety of haircutting techniques. The Art of Barbering will identify and meet the diverse physical, social, and intellectual needs of each student. The institution will train and educate you in the traditional barber arts of cutting men’s hair. This program will teach technical skills, theory, and concepts of advanced responsible hair and scalp care you need for today’s competitive industry and also provide a strong foundation in customer service and business skills to insure your success in a professional job market.

 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The goal of the Barber Styling Program is two-fold. The first part is to provide 1200 hours of education enabling our students to pass the Florida State Barber Styling Board Exam and receive their license to practice Barber Styling in the state of Florida at an entry level. Students enrolled in this program will be instructed in theory and practical application. Shaving, cutting, trimming, shampooing, blow drying, curling or waving the hair or beard; or applying oils, creams, lotions, or other preparation to the face, scalp, or neck, either by hand or by mechanical appliances, and advanced haircutting tactics. Students will learn various hair shaping techniques including proper usage of scissors, razors, and thinning shears. The second purpose is to help students develop up to the marketable skills in today’s competitive industry. Students are taught technical hair design, as well as customer service and business skills.
